"Guitar Life"
Colored-Pencil Drawing by Oreen Cohen
2003 D. Bradley Smith Art Purchase Award Winner

Photo of the Artwork

Photo of the Artist Oreen studied studio art and ceramics at Brighton, but she especially enjoyed her drawing and painting classes. She loves to work in colored pencil and charcoal, but wants to paint more. "Oreen displayed enormous growth from year to year," said Debra Burger, one of her art teachers at the high school. "She now shows great maturity in the way she looks at her own artwork, and she has grown amazingly in the way she expresses herself through her work."

Oreen also expresses herself through music and poetry. She plays guitar and writes poems and song lyrics ...all of which sometimes find their way into her artwork as well.

Oreen plans to continue her art education at SUNY Fredonia, where she hopes to major in art therapy or art education.
