Portrait
Acrylic Painting by Julia Bourdeau
2017 D. Bradley Smith Art Purchase Award Winner
This intriguing black and white portrait is one of many compelling portraits painted by Julia Bourdeau.
Art has always been a part of Julia's life. She grew up in a home where art supplies were always readily available and her interest has grown with her skills. In addition to her art courses in school, since entering high school Julia has pursued additional training at the Memorial Art Gallery and Nazareth College's Summer Art Camp for Teens.
Julia primarily works in 2D mediums, usually acrylic paint. While she enjoys painting traditional portraits, she also likes pushing against the familiar and has started experimenting with more abstract approaches.
Julia is a person of many interests. She plays the violin in the school orchestra and runs for enjoyment and exercise. She is a highly motivated student who loves science as well as art, and she looks forward to having time in the months before college to read for fun, especially fiction books. An animal lover, Julia has 4 cats and a rabbit, and will volunteer at an animal shelter this summer.
In the fall she will attend RIT where she plans to major in physics and minor in art.
