Stephen Monk, a 1976 graduate, has made a commitment to the Brighton Education Fund for an annual gift of $1000 to support the visual arts in the Brighton schools. This gift is made in honor of Claire Tyser, a Brighton art teacher for many years.

This gift is specifically for the visual arts and may be used for a wide variety of purposes including but not limited to:

• the purchase special materials or equipment
• field trips
• artist-in-residence programs

Final decisions on the use of these funds will be made by the Brighton Education Fund based on recommendations from a committee consisting of art teachers and a BEF representative.

BEF intends to leverage the power of this gift by making purchases, whenever possible, through BOCES. Purchases made through BOCES are eligible for state aid which could effectively double the impact of this gift on the BCSD arts program.
