Multimedia Self-Portrait by Angelina Guilfoyle
2024 D. Bradley Smith Art Purchase Award Winner
Angelina Guilfoyle's multimedia piece uses hand-dyed sewn fabric, hand-carved stamps for printing, and acrylic paint to fashion a striking self-portrait that encompasses her sense of multiple ethnicities.
As the daughter of a fashion designer, she has always been around and loved making art.
Angelina was born in New York City and moved to Brighton in 6th grade. In high school she initially focused on ceramics, but during her junior year her interest turned to drawing and painting. Except for a 2-week summer art program at RIT, her art training has come from her supportive home life and Brighton's classes. She took both AP Art and AP Art History.
Angelina is also a competitive sailor and a member of the Brighton Sailing team. She plays guitar and ukulele, and composes music. She also crochets.
Angelina plans to attend Alfred University to major in Art & Design and Art Management.
