Watercolor Painting with Ink Details by Ekaterina Maisheva
2020 D. Bradley Smith Art Purchase Award Winner
Ekaterina's painting is a watercolor with additional ink detail. She was inspired to create a still life with a different twist. Although at first glance this 14"x18" painting looks like a conventional view of a coffee pot with a cup and sugar bowl, a closer look reveals surprising organic elements and challenges to assumptions about gravity.
Ekaterina's main interest is art and she has been drawing as long as she can remember. Her family has supported her interest, even when she was a young child who drew pictures on the old wallpaper in their home. Since then she has developed her skills with lots of art classes, not only in school here but also in summer art camps and college programs.
Ekaterina plans to attend Pratt Institute in the fall to major in graphic design.
