"Still Life with Skull"
Pastel by Bethany Schoenfelder-Schwarz
2002 D. Bradley Smith Art Purchase Award Winner

Photo of the Artwork

Photo of the Artist While at Brighton High School, Bethany attended every art class offered. As a freshman, her submission to the Scholastic Art Show was awarded a Silver Key, and the portfolio she submitted in 2002 to the Scholastic Art Awards received recognition at the national level. She developed this pastel still-life as part of her AP Studio Art class, which emphasizes independent study.

During her summers, Bethany attended art programs at Nazareth College, the Ringling School of Art and Design, and the Rhode Island School of Design. Bethany will continue her study of art at the Rhode Island School of Design. She'll be challenged to make time for her interests in music, foreign language, and travel -- she is currently studying Japanese and learning to play the drums.
