Software for Special Education Program
Louise Caldwell had a long and successful teaching career in the Brighton Central School District. She taught English at Brighton High School for many years and was devoted to students with unique learning needs. She culminated her tenure in Brighton as a teacher of special education. As a superior educator, she endeared herself to students and colleagues alike.
It is most fitting that this grant project, funded in memory of Louise, provides for those students who were so very special to her. Using Co-writer, a predictable software program simultaneously with Write Outloud, a software program designed to read back text, students are able to improve their reading, writing and spelling abilities. The use of these two programs encourages children to easily put their thoughts into print. Students soon begin to see themselves as productive and successful writers.
