Daydreaming
Mixed Media Work by Julia Wisbey
2019 D. Bradley Smith Art Purchase Award Winner
Julia Wisbey created Daydreaming, a mixed media portrait. Starting with one of her black and white photographs, she subtly tinted it with Dr. Ph. Martin dyes and then provided additional emphasis with a Sharpie. Her picture was inspired by a video on dream portraiture that she saw during her AP Art History course.
In addition to photography, Julia paints with acrylics, does ceramics, and works with oven-baked clay. Art is her primary passion and activity although she also has a black belt in Hatatsu karate and sings in her church choir.
Julia has grown up in a home where artistic pursuits are a major priority. Her mother attended the Rhode Island School of Design and her father draws and designs and builds furniture.
Julia will attend the Cleveland Institute of Art in the fall and is planning on majoring graphic design and illustration.
